 The Conway County Fair Pageant will be held Saturday, August 27th, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building at the fairgrounds in Morrilton.  Only contestants in the junior and senior divisions have to be from Conway County.  The baby, married and senior citizen division are open to contestants from anywhere.  Entry fee is $40 with optional talent entry fee of $10.  For more information, call Amy Davis at 208-3034 or email

Thursday (6/30/16) is the deadline for producers to report prevented planted acres of soybeans not following another crop due to natural disaster. Producers are asked to contact the Conway/Faulkner/Perry County Farm Service Agency office in Morrilton at 354-2000​.

Mountain View Baptist Church on Woolverton Mountain will host its Fifth Thursday Night Gospel Singing on Thursday (6/30/16) at 7:00 p.m.  A potluck meal will follow.  For more information, call Dean Shipp at 893-2882 or Cleo Young at 354-4047.

The Perry County Courthouse will be closed Friday (7/1/16) and Monday (7/4/16) in observance of Independence Day.  The Circuit Clerk's Office will be open Friday (7/1/16).

BAKE SALE (7/1/16)
The Morrilton Kiwanis Club will host a bake sale Friday (7/1/16) from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in the lobby of Arvest Bank in Morrilton.

Miracle Lighthouse in Morrilton will not have its scheduled monthly singing on Saturday (7/2/16) due to the July Fourth holiday.

The Atkins Riding Club, Bar S Rodeo Company and Morgan and Lorie Schmoll are sponsoring a benefit rodeo and fireworks show for the Arkansas Children's Hospital on Saturday (7/2/16) at the Atkins Arena.  Events start at 11:00 a.m. with a cattle drive, pony express, hanging Judge Parker trials and wagon of prisoners.  The rodeo starts at 7:30.  Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for kids.  There will also be a raffle for a Ruger 10/22 Take Down model.

The Conway County Courthouse will be closed Monday (7/4/16) in observance of Independence Day.

The Morrilton Landfill will be closed Monday (7/4/16) for Independence Day.  Monday's trash route will be picked up on Tuesday (7/5/16).

Morrilton's 18th annual Fabulous Fourth celebration will take place Monday (7/4/16), starting at 5:00 p.m. at Cherokee Park.  The event includes a watermelon eating contest; a contest for the best apple pie; games for children; red, white and blue helium balloons; and hot dogs, iced tea and lemonade.  A fireworks show will start at 9:15 p.m.  For more information, visit or find the event on Facebook.

Candidates for School Board positions in the September school election can file a petition of candidacy with the County Clerk Office beginning Tuesday (7/5/16) at noon.  The deadline to file is noon on July 12th.

ARVAC's Low-Income Home Energy Summer Cooling Assistance program will open Wednesday (7/6/16).  The program provides a one-time payment for assistance with electric only and is based on family income and household size.  For more information in Conway County, visit the ARVAC office in the courthouse or call 354-5344.  In Perry County, visit the office on Main Street in Perryville or call 889-2407.

BBQ DINNER (7/9/16)
The Smith Springs Freewill Baptist Church Youth Group is hosting a barbeque dinner on Saturday (7/9/16) from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the church fellowship hall.  Meals are $7 each and include a pulled pork sandwich, chips, potato salad and a drink.

The Conway County Intergovernmental Council will meet Monday (7/11/16) at 9:00 a.m. in the fourth floor courtroom of the courthouse in Morrilton to discuss Med-Tech and 911.

The Bigelow High School cheerleaders will host a fundraising an adult co-ed softball tournament on July 29th and 30th at Anne Watson Elementary in Bigelow.  Registration for the double elimination tournament is $100 per team.  Sign-up will be Monday (7/11/16) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Anne Watson Elementary.  Contact Rena Gentry Lawson or Amy Roberts Squires on Facebook for more information.

The deadline to file a petition of candidacy for School Board positions for the September school election is Tuesday (7/12/16) at noon.  Petitions must be filed with the County Clerk's Office.

The Conway County Library will present a Vietnam War-themed Lunch and Learn program on Wednesday (7/13/16) at noon at the library.  The speaker will be Robert Velasquez, a member of the local VFW and a Vietnam War veteran.  Refreshments will be served and there will be a drawing for a patriotic lap quilt and other patriotic items.

BLOOD DRIVE (7/14/16)
The Arkansas Blood Institute will host a blood drive on Thursday (7/14/16) from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Hickey Building at CHI St. Vincent Morrilton.  Each donor will receive a t-shirt and one free park admission to Magic Springs.  To schedule at appointment, call Tammy Smith at 977-2455.

SENIOR SOFTBALL LEAGUE (7/18/16-7/22/16)
A softball league for men ages 49 and over will play this fall at the Don Owens Complex in Conway.  Registration will be Monday (7/18/16) through Friday (7/22/16) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. each night at the Don Owens Sportscenter.  The fee is $35, which includes 12 games and a t-shirt.  For more information, call Charlie Lemley at 479-970-5248.

Community Service Incorporated will host a benefit golf tournament for the First Tee program on Thursday (7/21/16) at 10:0 a.m. at Morrilton Country Club.  Registration for the three-person scramble is $150 per team and can be done online at or by calling 501-733-3938.

DIVE IN MOVIE (7/21/16)
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton and the City of Morrilton will host a special dive-in movie night on Thursday (7/21/16) beginning at sundown at the Morrilton City Pool.  The movie Zootopia will be shown on the big screen.  Admission is $3 for ages 12 and under and $5 for ages 13 and up.
