5K REGISTRATION (TFN)
Registration is open for the first annual Cameron Chancellor 5K to be held October 18th in Morrilton.  Proceeds from the race will benefit the Cameron Chancellor Scholarship Fund.  Registration can be made online at www.racesonline.com.  There will be categories for runners and walkers.  Early bird entry fee is $25.  For more information, contact Tracie Flowers-Stobaugh at 215-7154.

ABUNDANT LIFE BANQUET (TFN)
The Abundant Life Pregnancy Resource Center in Morrilton will hold its annual Celebrate Life fundraising banquet October 24th at First Baptist Church in Morrilton.  There is no charge for individual tickets, but table sponsorships are available at various levels.  To become a sponsor or to RSVP, call 354-4141.

CLOTHING CLOSET (TFN)
First Baptist Church in Center Ridge is holding a clothing closet every Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  The church is now accepting winter clothes donations for the closet.  For more information, call 242-1373.

MHS FUNDRAISER (TFN)
The Morrilton High School Student Council is selling alumni t-shirts as a fundraiser to benefit the Conway County Care Center.  Order forms can be picked up at the MHS office, and shirts will be available for pick-up at the alumni tent at the Homecoming football game.  In addition, home décor paintings featuring several college sports teams and some Devil Dog items will be part of a silent auction that night.

UACCM PAGEANT (TFN)
The 8th annual UACCM Pageant presented by Phi Beta Lambda will be held Saturday, November 8, from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the UACCM Fine Arts Auditorium.  In addition to UACCM students, there are categories for girls from birth to age 17.  Registration fee is $30 before October 27th or $40 after that date.  The final deadline is November 3rd.  For applications, visit www.uaccm.edu.

FOOD FOR FINES (10/1/14)
The Conway County Library will be offering its Food for Fines program from October 1-24.  The program gives patrons an opportunity to erase fines for overdue materials by donating non-perishable food items.  Each item represents $1, and up to ten items may be donated to cancel up to $10 of fines.

SENIOR CITIZEN POTLUCK (10/1/14)
The Plumerville Area Senior Citizen monthly potluck luncheon will be held Wednesday (10/1/14) at the W.C. Plummer Senior Center.  The group will meet at 11:30 a.m. and the meal will begin at noon.  All area senior citizens are invited.

YARD SALE (10/2/14-10/3/14)
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Oppelo will hold its annual fall yard sale on Thursday (10/2/14) and Friday (10/3/14) from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

FOOD BOX APPLICATIONS (10/2/14)
The Salvation Army will be taking applications for food boxes on Monday (10/2/14) from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Morrilton Housing Authority.  Applicants must bring photo identification for the head of household, a utility bill for proof of residency, and proof of income.  To be eligible, you must apply in person and be a Conway County resident.

DAV MEETING (10/2/14)
Chapter 13 of the Disabled American Veterans will meet Thursday (10/2/14) at 10:00 a.m. at Brookridge Cove Nursing Center.

LANDFILL COMMITTEE (10/2/14)
The Morrilton City Council Landfill Committee will meet Thursday (10/2/14) at 4:30 p.m. in the small conference room at City Hall to discuss the trash contract for Van Buren County.

CHILI COOKOFF (10/3/14)
The Atkins Fire Department will host a chili cookoff during the Arkansas Razorbacks' football game against Alabama on October 11th to benefit People for a Better Atkins and the Atkins Fire Association.  The event will start at kickoff and the game will be shown live.  There will also be kids' games and door prizes.  An entry form and rules are available at www.peopleforabetteratkins.org or at  The Atkins Chronicle, Elmo Haney's Pharmacy or Tan n Tone.  The cost to enter is $20 and the deadline to enter is Friday (10/3/14).

CAR SHOW (10/4/14)
The Wonderview High School FCA is holding a car show Saturday (10/4/14) from 8:00 a.m.-noon with a trophy presentation at 2:00 p.m.  Refreshments will be available.

LOGIC AND ACCURACY TESTING (10/4/14)
The Logic and Accuracy Testing on the I-Votronic voting machines in Conway County for the upcoming November general election will be held Saturday (10/4/14) beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the courthouse annex adjacent to the Conway County Courthouse in Morrilton.  All candidates and the public are welcome to attend.

STEP UP TO EMPLOYMENT (10/4/14)
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will host Step Up to Employment on Saturday (10/4/14) from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.  The event will include tours of UACCM's technical and professional program areas, visits with business representatives, free food and door prizes.   For more information, call Kim Darling at 977-2189.

BARTLETT FAMILY REUNION (10/4/14)
The annual Bartlett Family Reunion will take place Saturday (10/4/14) from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Appleton Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  There will be a potluck lunch at noon and all family and friends are invited.

SPRINGFIELD SCHOOL DAYS (10/4/14)
The annual Springfield School Days celebration will take place Saturday (10/4/14)  starting at 11:00 a.m. at the old Springfield Schoolhouse.  All former students, friends and community members are invited.  There will be a potluck at noon and a short program about the history of Springfield.  For more information, call Myrt Biggers at 354-3670 or Betty Blair at 893-9997.

SOUP SUPPER/DESSERT AUCTION (10/4/14)
The Conway-Perry Counties Realtors Association and the T.C. Vaughan Senior Adult Center will host a soup supper and dessert auction on Saturday (10/4/14) at the senior center in Morrilton.  The supper will start at 4:00 p.m. with the live auction to follow.  All proceeds benefit the Meals on Wheels program for Conway and Perry Counties.

WONDERVIEW FALL FEST (10/4/14)
Fall Fest at Wonderview School will be held Saturday (10/4/14) beginning at 5:00 p.m.  The march will be at 8:00 p.m.  Tickets will be sold for cash prizes of $400, $200 and $100.

SH OCTOBERFEST (10/4/14)
Sacred Heart Catholic School will hold its annual Octoberfest on Saturday (10/4/14).  A bake sale starts at 4:00 p.m.  The all-you-can-eat turkey and dressing dinner will be served from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with carryouts available from 4:00-5:30.  The event will also be host to games for all ages and a silent auction until 8:30 p.m.  Tickets will be sold for cash prizes of $500, $300 and $100.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN RAFFLE (10/5/14)
The UACCM Ambassador Project is holding a "Ladies and Gentlemen" raffle fundraiser.  Tickets $1 each or 6 for $5 and can be purchased for one package, or both.  They can be purchased at UACCM or by calling Mark Thomas at 977-2000.  Tickets will be sold through Sunday (10/5/14).  The drawing will be held Monday (10/6/14).

PERRY COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSION (10/6/14)
The Perry County Election Commission will meet at 4:00 p.m. Monday (10/6/14) to select poll workers for the upcoming general election.  The meeting will be held at the Commission office on "B" Street in Perryville.

HEALING SERVICE (10/6/14)
The Springfield United Methodist Church will host a Service of Healing and Hope for the entire community on Monday (10/6/14).  The church is located 9.5 miles north of the Plumerville exit on Highway 92.

ART SHOW (10/11/14)
The Conway League of Artists will sponsor its largest exhibition of the year, the Tri-County Art Show, on Saturday (10/11/14) at the Faulkner County Library in Conway.  The show is open to artists in Conway, Faulkner and Perry Counties.  More than $1,500 in prize money will be awarded in five categories.  Entry forms can be obtained that day during the acceptance of artwork from 9:00 a.m.-noon.  Entry fee is $25 for members and $45 for non-members for three entries.  The exhibit will remain open for viewing through November 8th.  For more information, call Coe Wilson at 208-2264.

POKER RUN (10/11/14)
A poker run will be held Saturday (10/11/14) to raise money for Maddie Grace Windle of Perryville who is battling cancer.  Maddie is the daughter of Brad and Gina Windle.  Motorcycles and cars are invited to take part in the 90-mile run.  The cost is a $20 donation with $5 for rider.  The winning hand gets a $300 cash prize.  The ride starts and ends at the Perry County Fairgrounds in Perryville.  Registration starts at 9:00 a.m.  There will be a free lunch for participants, door prizes and music.

PICNIC IN THE PARK (10/11/14)
The Oppelo Church of Christ is sponsoring a picnic in the park  on Saturday (10/11/14) from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Oppelo City Park.  There will be hot dogs, live music, face painting and bounce houses, and everything is free.

GOSPEL MEETING (10/12/14-10/15/14)
Oppelo Church of Christ is hosting a Big Tent Gospel Meeting Sunday (10/12/14) through Wednesday (10/15/14) with speaker David Riley.

JUST DESSERTS (10/17/14)
The UACCM Foundation will hold its 12th annual Just Desserts fundraiser on Friday (10/17/14) from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the UACCM Plaza.  The event includes an all-you-can-eat buffet, wine bar, gourmet coffee bar, dessert auction, raffle and super raffle.  Tickets are $15 each or $25 per couple and may be purchased online at www.uaccm.edu, from any Foundation Board member or at the door.  Sponsorship and donation information is also online.

FLY-IN (10/25/14)
The Morrilton Municipal Airport will host its annual fly-in on Saturday (10/25/14) from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  Refreshments will be served and the C.C. Kruzzers will hold a car show with the event.  In addition, all planes that fly in that day will receive a discount of ten cents a gallon on fuel.  Admission is free to the public.

MONSTERS ON MAIN STREET (10/31/14)
Main Street Morrilton will host its annual Monsters on Main Street from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday (10/31/14) in downtown Morrilton.  Candy and treats will be available to trick-or-treaters at participating merchants.  There will also be a fortune teller, dance performance, face painting and other activities.  A costume contest will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Rialto Theatre.  All activities are free, but concessions will be available for purchase.
