The Conway County Fair Pageant will be held Saturday, August 27th, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building at the fairgrounds in Morrilton.  Only contestants in the junior and senior divisions have to be from Conway County.  The baby, married and senior citizen division are open to contestants from anywhere.  Entry fee is $40 with optional talent entry fee of $10.  For more information, call Amy Davis at 208-3034 or email

LUCK OF THE DRAW (7/29/16)
Tickets for the Conway County Center for Exceptional Children's annual Luck of the Draw fundraiser will be sold at the numerous sponsor locations through Friday (7/29/16).  Eight different themed prize packs - each valued at approximately $1,000 - will be given away during raffle drawings on Friday, August 5th, live on KVOM FM 101.7. Tickets are $20 each or six for $100. They're available at Edward Jones Investments, Magie Ford, Roberson Tire, Petit Jean State Bank, Farmers and Merchants Bank, Koontz Electric, Brents & Sons and Lipsmeyer Daylight Donuts or from members of the Morrilton Rotary Club and Knights of Columbus.  Tickets will be available at the Center for Exceptional Children through Monday (8/1/16).

The Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting and open house for Jennifer Mullins Photography at 195 Spring Valley Road in Morrilton on Friday (7/29/16) at 11:00 a.m.

The Conway County Library's next Family Movie Night will be held Friday (7/29/16) at 7:00 p.m. with a free showing of Disney's The Aristocats.  Popcorn and refreshments will be served.

THE MUSIC MAN (7/29/16-7/31/16)
Red Curtain Theatre in Conway will present "The Music Man" in five performances at the Snow Fine Arts Center on the University of Central Arkansas campus.  Performances will be Friday (7/29/16) at 1:00 and 7:00 p.m., Saturday (7/30/16) at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday (7/31/16) at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids under the age of ten.  For tickets or more information, call 501-499-9776.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (7/31/16-8/3/16)
The Downtown Church of Christ in Morrilton will hold Vacation Bible School Sunday (7/31/16) through Wednesday (8/3/16) with singing, classes, skits, surprises and refreshments from 7:00-8:30 each night.  The theme is "Star Wars: Hope Strikes Back."  There are classes for nursery through the 12th grade and a different speaker each night for adults.  Everyone is welcome.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (7/31/16-8/4/16)
Calvary Baptist Church in Morrilton will host "COW-abunga Farm" Vacation Bible School Sunday (7/31/16) through Thursday (8/4/16) from 5:30-7:30 each night.  Everyone is welcome.

Due to construction of a new arena and safe room, the upper parking lot at Morrilton High School near the fieldhouse and behind the fine arts buildings will be closed beginning Monday (8/1/16) until further notice. 

Monday (8/1/6) is the deadline for Arkansas farmers and ranchers to enroll in Agriculture Risk Coverage and/or Price Loss Coverage programs for the 2016 crop year.  Monday is also the deadline for farmers, ranchers and other agricultural producers to nominate eligible candidates to serve on local Farm Service Agency county committees.  For more information, contact the Conway/Faulkner/Perry County FSA office in Morrilton or visit

There will be a meeting of the Conway County Equalization Board on Monday (8/1/16) at 9:00 a.m. in the first floor conference room of the courthouse in Morrilton to open the 2016 session.

Registration for the Morrilton Parks and Recreation Department's youth flag football program for children in the first and seconds grades will be held August 1-11.  Registration is $40 per child and can be completed at the Parks and Rec office in the city ballfield complex.  If you're interested in coaching or would like more information, call Hanna Ross at 354-4727.

The Conway County Library will celebrate the release of "Harry Potter an the Cursed Child" on Tuesday (8/2/16).  The library will be serving Harry Potter themed refreshments all day and holding a drawing for three copies of the book.  For more information, call the library at 354-5204.

OPEN HOUSE (8/4/16)
The Earle Love Child Study Center at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will hold an open house on Thursday (8/4/16) from 4:00-6:00 p.m.  Parents who are looking for a preschool for the 2016-17 school year are invited to attend the come-and-go event.  Application packets will be available, and enrollment can be finalized during the event with payment of a $30 enrollment fee.

RIALTO PLAY (8/4/16-8/7/16)
The Rialto Community Arts Center in downtown Morrilton will present its production of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing on Thursday (8/4/16), Friday (8/5/16) and Saturday (8/6/16) at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday (8/7/16) at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and are available online at or at the door prior to the show.

A singing/music gathering fundraiser will be held Saturday (8/6/16) from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lanty Community Building on Hwy 287 in Lanty.  Anyone who would like to sing or play is invited to perform.  Hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and desserts will be served.  There will be no admission or food charge, but donations will be accepted for the building fund to install a kitchen.

The Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Morrilton will celebrate the fourth pastoral anniversary for Pastor Arthur J. and wife, Jocelyn Lock, on Sunday (8/7/16) at 2:30 p.m.  Pastor Artee Williams of the Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church in Conway will bring the morning message in the 11:00 a.m. hour and Pastor Charles Caradine from King Solomon Baptist Church in North Little Rock will bring the 2:30 p.m. message.

Sacred Heart Catholic School in Morrilton will hold K-12 registration for the 2016-17 school year on Monday (8/8/16).  Families should report to the cafeteria between 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. to complete necessary forms, pay tuition and fees and pick up important information.

The Conway County Intergovernmental Council will meet Tuesday (8/9/16) at 9:00 a.m. in the fourth floor courtroom of the courthouse in Morrilton to discuss Med-Tech and 911.

Sacred Heart Catholic School in Morrilton will hold open house for grades K-12 on Thursday (8/11/16) beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the church with classroom visits to follow.

An informational meeting for anyone interested in a new 4-H club that will be formed in Morrilton will be held Thursday (8/11/16) at 6:00 p.m. at the Conway County Extension Office in Morrilton.  The club will focus on science, health and technology, but members can participate in any 4-H project.  Organizers are looking for adult volunteer leaders, as well as 4-H'ers from age 5-19.  More information can be found on the Conway County 4-H Facebook page or by calling the Extension Office at 977-2146.

Morrilton Family Dental will have its second annual Patient Appreciation Day on Friday (8/12/16) from 12:00-2:00 p.m.  The theme is "Soak the Doc" and kids will have the chance to soak Dr. Eggart with water balloons and super soaker water guns, and they'll be able to enjoy sprinklers, popsicles and a slip-n-slide.  There will also be free school supplies to everyone who attends, and classroom supplies for teachers.

The Knights of Columbus Council 10908 in St. Vincent is sponsoring its annual spaghetti and meatball supper on Saturday (8/13/16) starting at 5:00 p.m.  Meals are $10 for adults, $5 for children age 5-12 and free for kids age 4 and under.  Adult take-out meals will be available for $10.  There will also be a bake sale in conjunction with the supper to raise money for the Knights of Columbus Persons with Disabilities Fund.

Monday (8/22/16) is the deadline to register to vote in the annual school election.  The election will be held September 20th.
