ANGEL TREE APPLICATIONS (THRU 10/17/15)
Applications for the Department of Human Services Angel Tree for Conway County are being accepted through October 17th at the DHS office on Bruce Street in Morrilton.
FOOD FOR FINES (THRU 10/24/15)
The Conway County Library is hosting its Food for Fines program through October 24th. Patrons can bring in non-perishable food items to offset late fees. Each can of food will take $1 off your late fee up to $10. All food collected will be donated to the Conway County Care Center's Harvest of Hope Food Drive.

ABATE 17 MEETING (10/6/15)
ABATE 17 will meet Tuesday (10/6/15) at 6:00 p.m.at Smitty's Bar-B-Q in Conway. All riders and motorcycle enthusiasts are welcome.
MARIACHI CONCERT (10/6/15)
In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will host the "Mariachi America" band in a special free concert on Tuesday (10/6/15) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the UACCM Student Union.
ARCHEOLOGICAL SOCIETY (10/6/15)
The Arkansas River Valley Chapter of the Arkansas Archeological Society will meet Tuesday (10/6/15) at 7:00 p.m. at the Arkansas Tech Museum on the Arkansas Tech campus in Russellville. The meeting will include a presentation by Dr. Jodi Barnes, Station Archeologist for the Arkansas Archeological Survey, on the construction of a World War II POW camp in southeast Arkansas. Everyone is welcome.
SENIOR CITIZEN POTLUCK (10/7/15)
The Plumerville Area Senior Citizen monthly potluck luncheon will be held Wednesday (10/7/15) in the W.C. Plummer Senior Center. All area senior citizens are invited.
YARD SALE (10/8/15-10/9/15)
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, located at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain, will hold its annual fall yard sale on Thursday (10/8/15) and Friday (10/9/15) from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. both days.
AUTHOR APPEARANCE (10/8/15)
The E. Allen Gordon Library of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will host author Jenny Wingfield for a special appearance on Thursday (10/8/15) at 1:00 p.m. Her book, "The Homecoming of Samuel Lake," is the 2015 selection for "If All Arkansas Read the Same Book." Students and the community are encouraged to attend this free event.
PLUMERVILLE HOMECOMING (10/9/15-10/10/15)
The annual Plumerville Homecoming Reunion will take place Friday (10/9/15) and Saturday (10/10/15). Activities include a chili supper at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the fire department, a pancake breakfast on Saturday at 7:00 a.m., a hamburger lunch at noon on Saturday, and the reunion dinner at 6:00 p.m. Saturday in the school gymnasium. Tickets for that may be purchase for $12 at the door or from any Homecoming Committee member.
The Conway County Library will host its second annual Oktoberfest on Saturday (10/10/15). Festivities begin at noon with brats, hot dogs and a selection of non-alcoholic imported beers.
BATTLE OF THE BADGES (10/10/15)
The Morrilton Police Department will take on the Morrilton Fire Department in a "Battle of the Badges" charity softball game on Saturday (10/10/15) at 2:00 p.m. at the Morrilton Ballfield Complex. Cash donations accepted at the front gate will go to the Angel Tree Christmas program.
RIVERVIEW FALL FEST (10/10/15)
Riverview Baptist Christian School will hold its annual Fall Festival on Saturday (10/10/15). A turkey and dressing dinner will be served from 4:30-7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. There will also be games for everyone and a silent auction in the gym from 6:00-7:30, followed by the crowing of a king and queen and a live auction.
CHILI COOKOFF (10/10/15)
The second annual 1st and 10 Chili Cookoff will take place Saturday (10/10/15) at 5:00 p.m. at the Atkins Fire Department. Prizes will be awarded for Best Chili, People's Choice and Best Table Décor. In addition, there will be kids' games and door prizes and Arkansas' football game against Alabama will be shown. Bottomless bowls of chili will be available for $7 and Petit Jean hot dogs will be sold for $1. All proceeds will benefit the People for a Better Atkins Christmas food baskets and the Atkins Fire Department.
NAACP BANQUET (10/10/15)
The Conway County branch of the NAACP will host its annual Fred W. Smith Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday (10/10/15) at 6:00 p.m. at the Conway County Multi-Purpose Building in Morrilton. This year's theme is "Pursuing Liberty in the Face of Injustice" and the speaker will be Reverend Dr. William R. Boone from Little Rock. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and are available by calling Joe Canady at 215-1647 or Mary Newsome at 354-0003. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
PICKIN' IN THE PARK (10/10/15)
Main Street Morrilton and the Arts Council of Conway County will host Pickin' in the Park on Saturday (10/10/15) at 6:00 p.m. at the Broadway Pocket Park. All local musicians are encouraged to join in the fun. Popcorn and hot dogs will be available.
CHURCH HOMECOMING (10/11/15)
Plumerville United Methodist Church will observe Homecoming services on Sunday (10/11/15) at 11:00 a.m. Former pastor Reverend Dane Womack will deliver the sermon and a potluck lunch will be served in Plummer Hall following the service. All members, former members and friends are invited.
PESTICIDE COLLECTION (10/12/15)
Conway County producers and commercial applicators will have the chance to dispose of outdated and unused pesticides at a collection on Monday (10/12/15) from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the county road shop on Southern Valley Drive in Morrilton. There is no fee to participate, but pre-registration is required. Registration forms are available at local co-ops, Conway County Farm Bureau and the county Extension office.

HAUNTED HISTORY PROGRAM (10/13/15)
Shelle Stormoe, education coordinator of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, will make a presentation on "Arkansas' Haunted History" on Tuesday (10/13/15) at 7:00 p.m. at the Max Milam Library in Perryville. The program will explore the ghost stories and folklore associated with historic Arkansas buildings and sites.
JUST DESSERTS (10/15/15)
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Foundation will hold its 13th annual Just Desserts fundraiser on Thursday (10/15/15) from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the UACCM Plaza. The event will include a variety of desserts, savory snacks, dessert auction, champagne and wine bar, and musical entertainment from the John Cotton Quartet. Prayer in the Park, a prayer vigil for the foster children of Conway County, will be held Thursday (10/15/15) from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Morrilton City Park.

The 40th class reunion for the Morrilton High School Class of 1975 will be held Friday (10/16/15) and Saturday (10/17/15). HARVEST OF HOPE (10/24/15)
The Conway County Care Center will kickoff its annual Harvest of Hope food drive with the "Fill the Truck" event on Saturday (10/24/15) from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. A truck will be set up in the Kroger parking lot in Morrilton to collect donations. The Harvest of Hope Gospel Singing will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. that night at the Rialto Theatre in downtown Morrilton.
