Community Calendar

First Baptist Church in Center Ridge is holding a clothing closet every Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  The church is now accepting winter clothes donations for the closet.  For more information, call 242-1373.

The Adult Education Center at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton offers free classes to prepare adults in Conway and Perry Counties to earn a GED.  ESL classes are also offered free of charge for anyone at least 18 years of age.  For more information, call 215-4904.

The mass flu vaccination clinic for Conway County scheduled for Friday (10/24/14) has been postponed due to a delay in the shipment of the vaccine.  The event will be rescheduled and announced once the shipment arrives.

ARVAC will issue commodities for eligible households in Conway County on Friday (10/24/14) from 8:00 a.m.-noon at the National Guard Armory in Morrilton.  Applicants will need to bring total household income, number in household and Social Security card.

The Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting and open house at Hometown Flea Market & Bow-Teek on Friday (10/24/14) at 2:00 p.m.

The Abundant Life Pregnancy Resource Center in Morrilton will hold its annual Celebrate Life fundraising banquet on Friday (10/24/14) from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Morrilton. For more information, call 354-4141.

FLY-IN (10/25/14)
The Morrilton Municipal Airport will host its annual fly-in on Saturday (10/25/14) from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  Refreshments will be served and the C.C. Kruzzers will hold a car show with the event.  In addition, all planes that fly in that day will receive a discount of ten cents a gallon on fuel.  Admission is free to the public.

HARVEST OF HOPE (10/25/14)
The Conway County Care Center's annual Harvest of Hope food drive culminates with its "Fill the Truck" drive on Saturday (10/25/14).  Individuals are asked to help fill a truck located in the Kroger parking lot with non-perishable food items from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  Trucks will also be set up in the parking lots of Walmart, Harp's and the new Dollar General store.  The seventh annual Harvest of Hope Gospel Singing will follow from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Rialto Theatre in downtown Morrilton.  The cost to attend is $5 or five cans of food for adults and $3 or three cans of food for children.  Entertainment will be provided by local church choirs, individuals and youth groups.

FALL FESTIVAL (10/25/14)
A fall festival will take place Saturday (10/25/14) from 12:00-5:00 p.m. at the foot of Perry Mountain.  There will be food, baked goods, games, a bounce house, dunking booth and much more.  Everyone is welcome.

A Fall Freedom Festival hosted by The Harbor on Ranchette Road in Conway will take place Saturday (10/25/14) from 3:00-7:00 p.m.  The event includes hay rides, face painting, bounce houses, a chili cookoff and entertainment by Gospel Outlaws Christian Rock Band.

CHILI SUPPER (10/25/14)
The Diane Wilson Senior Adult Center in Perryville will have a chili supper on Saturday (10/25/14) starting at 4:00 p.m.  Meals are $6 and will include chili, frito chili pie, salad and dessert.  Music will be provided during the event by the "Pickin' Buddies."  Proceeds will benefit the center's Meals and Wheels program.

HAUNTED HOUSE (10/25/14)
The annual Hubbard Family Haunted House is open from 7:00-10:00 p.m. each night through Saturday (10/25/14) in the former Parlor Restaurant next to the old Morrilton Bank building in downtown Morrilton.  The haunted house will also open October 28-November 1 from 7:00-11:00 p.m.  Proceeds go toward medical expenses for Jimmy Harris.

Lonoke Baptist Church will hold its annual Fall Fest on Sunday (10/26/14) from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Conway County Fairgrounds Multi-Purpose Building in Morrilton.  The event will include free chili, hot dogs, bounce houses, a costume contest and other games.

FALL FESTIVAL (10/26/14)
Mallettown United Methodist Church will host a fall festival on Sunday (10/26/14) beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the church located three miles east of Springfield on Mallettown Road.  There will be hot dogs, chili, games and treats for children, concluding with a hayride.

UACCM PAGEANT (10/27/14)
The 8th annual UACCM Pageant presented by Phi Beta Lambda will be held Saturday, November 8, from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the UACCM Fine Arts Auditorium. In addition to UACCM students, there are categories for girls from birth to age 17. Registration fee is $30 before Monday (10/27/14) or $40 after that date. The final deadline is November 3rd. BLOOD DRIVE (10/27/14)
The American Red Cross will hold blood drives Monday (10/27/14) from 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Bigelow High School and from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Walmart in Morrilton.

QUORUM COURT (10/27/14)
The Conway County Quorum Court will meet Monday (10/27/14) at 6:00 p.m. at the courthouse in Morrilton.

The Arkansas River Valley Audubon Society will meet Monday (10/27/14) at 7:00 p.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Building at Hendrix College in Conway.  The speaker will be Courtney Hatch, associate professor of Biology at Hendrix.  For more information, call Pat Donnell at 977-3899.

4-H BANQUET (10/28/14)
Conway County 4-H will hold its annual awards banquet Tuesday (10/28/14) at 6:00 p.m. at the Downtown Church of Christ Family Life Center in Morrilton.

There will be a regular meeting of the Morrilton Historic District Commission on Wednesday (10/29/14) at 4:30 p.m. in the small conference room at City Hall.

BLOOD DRIVE (10/30/14)
The American Red Cross will host a blood drive Thursday (10/30/14) from 10:00 a.m.-3;00 p.m. at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.

A sack lunch fundraiser will be held Wednesday (10/29/14) from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Morrilton Police Department parking lot.  A $7 lunch includes a hot dog, hamburger, chips and dessert.  All proceeds go to improvements at the Morrilton Dog Pound.

The St. Vincent Morrilton Auxiliary will host a beans and cornbread lunch and a silent auction on Thursday (10/30/14) from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the hospital Grill Area.  Meals are $6 each.  For carryouts, call 977-2455.

The Morrilton City Council Budget Committee will meet Thursday (10/30/14) at 6:00 p.m. at the Wastewater Conference Room.

Registration for Upward basketball and cheerleading continues through Friday (10/31/14).  Forms can be picked up at the Conway County Community Center and forms and payment must be turned in at C-4.  The late registration period, which includes a late fee, will run from November 1-15.  For more information, call Fina or Cindy at 354-4122.

BLOOD DRIVE (10/31/14)
The American Red Cross will have a blood drive Friday (10/31/14) from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Wonderview High School.

Main Street Morrilton will host its annual Monsters on Main Street from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday (10/31/14) in downtown Morrilton.  Candy and treats will be available to trick-or-treaters at participating merchants.  There will also be a fortune teller, dance performance, face painting and other activities.  A costume contest will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Rialto Theatre.  All activities are free, but concessions will be available for purchase.

TRUCK OR TREAT (10/31/14)
Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in the Hillcreek Community north of Plumerville will hold a Truck of Treat event with games and food for kids.  Everyone is welcome.

The eighth annual Veterans Parade in downtown Plumerville will be held Saturday (11/1/14) beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Entertainment and activities in the park will start at noon.  Food will also be available.  For more information or parade entries or setting up a booth, call 208-3467.
