The First Baptist Church of Morrilton is hosting a first responder appreciation dinner on Sunday, September 11th, at 5:30 p.m.  All emergency personnel and their spouse or guest are invited.  You're asked to RSVP by September 4th by calling 354-4013 or emailing

The Conway County Election Commission will meet Friday (8/26/16) at 9:00 a.m. in the conference room on the first floor of the courthouse in Morrilton to draw for ballot positions for the November 8th general election and discuss new voting equipment.

YOUTH DOG HUNT (8/26/16-8/27/16)
The Central Arkansas Chapter of the Arkansas Dog Hunters Association will host a barbeque dinner, live auction and free youth coon hunt on Friday (8/26/16) starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Perry County Fairgrounds in Perryville.  A four-hour fox field trial hunt for the youth will be held the next morning in the Winona Management Area.  To enter a dog in the walker class, call Teresa Hill at 501-440-2276.  To enter a beagle, call Teresa Sanders at 501-380-5832.

The 2016 Pope County Fair Pageants will be held September 10th at the Atkins High School Auditorium. Contestants in the Teen, Miss and Mrs. divisions must be residents of Pope County. The Little Miss and Little Mister pageants are open to contestants from anywhere in Arkansas. The next Perry County Saturday on the Square will be held Saturday (8/27/16) on the courthouse square in Perryville and will be a salute to all Perry County educators.  There will be treats for educators at Main Street Donut Shop and students will be able to vote for their favorite teachers.  Kids will also be able to explore fire trucks, draw on the sidewalk and more from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  A Farmers' Market will open at 7:00 a.m. and the Perry County Historical Museum will be open from 10:00-2:00.

CAR SHOW (8/27/16)
The CC Kruzzers will host their 5th Annual Fall Car/Truck/Motorcycle Show on Saturday (8/27/16) next the Depot Museum in downtown Morrilton.  Entry fee is $25 for the first car with a discount offered for multiple cars.  Proceeds will go toward tool scholarships for UACCM Auto Tech students.  Registration will be from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with trophies presented at 2:00 p.m.  For more information, call 977-5253 or 289-8582.

The Conway County Sheriff's Department, Morrilton Police Department and the 15th Judicial Drug Task Force will hold a gun and vehicle auction on Saturday (8/27/16) at the National Guard Armory in Morrilton.  Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.; the auction starts at 10:00.  Pre-registration continues through Friday (8/26/16) at the Sheriff's Office or the Police Department.

The Conway County Fair Pageants will be held Saturday (8/27/16), starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building at the fairgrounds in Morrilton.  Admission price is $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and $3 for children age 5-12.

The Morrilton High School Band Boosters will meet at the high school football field concession stand on Saturday (8/27/16) at 10:00 a.m. for their yearly cleaning.  All band parents are encouraged to help.

Registration for the Conway County Soccer Club's fall season continues through Monday (8/29/16). Forms are available at C-4 in Morrilton or from any board member. A limited number of scholarships are available. For more information, call Hope at 208-2648.

The Perry County Election Commission will meet Monday (8/29/16) at 3:00 p.m. to draw for ballot positions for the November general election.  The meeting will be held at the Election Commission office on B Street in Perryville.

The Logic and Accuracy Testing on the IVotronic voting machines in Conway County will be held Monday (8/29/16) at 4:30 p.m. in the courthouse annex adjacent to the courthouse in Morrilton.

The GFWC Century League of Morrilton will host its fourth annual 5K Color Fun Run on September 24th in downtown Morrilton.  The pre-registration deadline with a $25 fee is Friday (9/2/16).  Registration is $30 after that date.  Registration is available online at  For more information, call 208-7514.

CANOE RACE (9/3/16)
The Petit Jean Extension Homemakers Club will host its third annual canoe/kayak race at the Petit Jean State Park Boat House on Saturday (9/3/16).  Registration is $15 per craft payable the day of the race, but pre-registration is encouraged by calling 940-2243.  Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. with the first heat to start around 8:30.  T-shirts and concessions will be sold at the event.

William B. Jones, author of Petit Jean: A Wilderness Adventure, will present a book talk at Petit Jean State Park's Mather Lodge on Saturday (9/3/16) from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  Jones will sign copies of the book and talk about the process of researching and creating the book.  For more information, call the park at 727-5441 or visit

COUNTY FAIR (9/7/16-9/10/16)
The Conway County Fair will take place Wednesday (9/7/16) through Saturday (9/10/16) at the fairgrounds in Morrilton.  The parade will start at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.  The educational exhibit building will be open Wednesday evening and all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  The midway will be open from 5:00-10:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 5:00-11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.  There will also be a drawing for a flat-screen TV and two bicycles on Saturday night.  For more information, including a complete schedule of events, visit

St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, located at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain, will host its annual bazaar on Sunday (9/11/16) from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.  An all-you-can-eat spaghetti and sausage dinner will be served until 2:00 p.m.  Meals are $13 for adults, $6 for children age 6-12 and free for kids age 5 and under.  Take-outs are available by calling 354-0631. The event also includes a silent auction, bake sale, games for all ages, and a drawing for a trip to Branson and other prizes.
